Milton Keynes Second Ladies' Charity Table Tennis Tournament Raises £650 and Collects More Than 100 Bras for Breast Cancer

On September 6, Milton Keynes Table Tennis Centre held its second annual ladies' charity table tennis tournament. Fourteen women took part, raising £650 for Breast Cancer Now and collecting more than 100 used bras for Against Breast Cancer's recycling programme. Organised by Julie Snowdon, a Table Tennis England staff member and secretary of the centre, the event promoted fun and fair play. The format included two rounds of group matches, a main event and a consolation final. This allowed players of different standards to enjoy the competition without pressure. Most participants came from the centre's monthly ladies-only sessions. The event had no impact on rankings and was not part of the ITTF/WTT system. Instead, its value came from community spirit and social responsibility. The collection of used bras gave old items a second life, turning them into fundraising resources for breast cancer research. The tournament showed that table tennis can be a powerful tool for charity. Julie said the centre would continue its ladies' sessions on November 1 from 10am to 12pm. It is also about caring for others and making a difference in the community.
